Back from Berlin, still Insane

Hard to explain and even harder to describe all what happened on Friday night in Berlin. To say It was simply great is way easier. Day of unity for Germany, heart of Berlin, insanity, coulture, decadence, punk, freaks, avantgarde inside of the theatre, outside police and demonstrations connected with the national holiday. The building of Volksbuhne (National Scene) hosted over 40 artists from many countries of Europe. The event conducted by mysterious Steve Morell from Pale Music evolved into great party with such an incredible appearances, ie. Atelier Theremin, Klill The Dandies!, drum session of Andrew Unruh from Einsturzende Neubauten, Call Me An Ambulance, Warren Suicide and many many others. We were absorbing the witty yet serious atmosphere of a decadence and creativity melting in a pot of this monumental communist theatre, thinking about possibility of doing “Fuck Off Prague Insane” in National Theatre in Prague with a support from the city’s major house happening on the main national holiday at 28th October. Hahaha. There are still reasons why “go west”, even when you are living in a country of freedom.

The Prostitutes were playing in crowded Red Salon ’round midnight. The crowd and The Fakes playing a short set before our show created the right temperature for the concert and Adrian was especially woken up by “The Beatles, just a band, Bloc Party, just a band, …” The show was energetic, half an hour set of oldies but goldies from our songbook. After the show we were enjoying the event till 5 AM. Then we went to Rock’n'roll hotel in Kreutzberg. Half past seven the girl in a hotel bar said that it is the right time to “fuck off” and we went to our rooms. Stevie LFO visited part of Dandies next door through the window at the balcony but he forgot to open it. Sound of broken glass was our last acoustical trail we made in Berlin this weekend. Saturday evening we went home.
