In 2005 students of some university in Mexico City asked us on myspace to come over and play at their party. Even though they started a petition, we never made it to Mexico. Last issue of mexican edition of world-famous music magazine Rolling Stone shows Depeche Mode on the cover, but hides something way more surprising inside and it puts us back on mexican music map. An above-average review of Hometown Zombies album, competing with Pete Doherty and hungarian band Hangmas on the same page. Btw, Hangmas have got two music videos made by Šimon Šafránek, the director of Boom and Elephant music videos recently released by The Prostitutes. Is this a possible conection? We don’t know yet.

Thursday 21-05-09 we played in Události v kultuře program of Czech Television as already reported by Stevie LFO and here are three videos of songs we played that evening in live broadcast for over 60k people – so our biggest audience so far!

Next week we will come out with two new music videos directed by Šimon Šafránek – Boom and Elephant. They are going to be introduced exclusively on idnes.cz

On the same server, Martin Destroyer will hold an online chat with anybody interested on Friday, 29-05-09 from 2 to 3 PM. Any questions? Insults? Messages of love? Your welcome!

On Thursday evening, The Prostitutes had an interview on the News channel ČT24 of the Czech TV. We together with our robot WD40 took part in the programme Události v kultuře and played there three songs – Elephant, Boom and Everybody Knows. Tomorrow, 3th March 2009, the second album called Hometown Zombies, is going to be released. You can buy it in Czech Republic in all news-stands as an addition to the new issue of Filter magazine (for the price of the mag). Plus a feature, a review and some crazy photos inside.

We’ve been busy last weeks and we still are. You saw us: recording, protesting against policy of Board of Czech Radio, playing live at radio Wave.

THE NEW ALBUM, THE FIRST SINGLE, MUSIC VIDEO AND NEW TOUR

So, after two years of intense gigging and preparation of new material we finally recorded 14 tracks to be further developed. It took us less than two weeks in David Koller’s Cox studio where we were with producer Dušan Neuwert and sound engineer Petr Kaláb. Now, we are finalizing the songs in Tata Bojs studio and our own recording home facilities, mainly at my sweet Radiotron studio. In a week we should be ready with edits and additional recording and Dušan and us should move to Soundsquare studios to mix and master the record.

We are still not ready to announce the name of the forthcoming album, but we are pretty close. The record is playing a lot with the theme of all these hometown lost and dull souls around us and is conceived a bit as a film soundtrack, at least we are talking about it like this . One thing for sure, the first single is going to be released in the second half of January 2009 and it’s name is Leave It Like It Is. It is a rather not very cheerful duet of Adrian T. Bell and La Petite Sonja (Kill The Dandies!, ex-The Nihilists). I’ve got f***ing goose-skin everytime I listen to it so I hope you will have too.

Directing duo Mods, me and Michal Nohejl, we just returned from freezing Baltic Sea in Poland where we were shooting a music video for this song. Michal plays the main character together with his girlfriend, actress Petra Nesvačilová. The video is sponsored and produced by Bistro Films.

We can confirm that the whole new album is going to be released in March 2009 and immediately after the release we are going to tour all over CZ and also some other European countries.

THE LAST DISTORTION-DANCING-DESTRUCTION CONCERT

The Prostitutes will change. They already did, but they’re going to change more. The last concert of Distortion-Dancing-Destruction tour is going to take place in Rock Café, the same club we played our first gig 3 years ago, 27th December 2008, 8PM. Come and say goodbye to the old with us at this riotous post-christmas post-punk party!
