So your relationship is worn out and you think you can save it by going on a holiday. But think twice. And go to cinema to see the new Czech film “DVOJKA” directed by Jaroslav Fuit and starring Jakub Wagner, Kristýna Fuitová-Nováková and David Máj. A road-movie which leads to Denmark and towards an end of one relationship. Dogma-like lo-fi perfection. You will laugh how sad and extreme it is and you, probably, will thank god for the partner you have or you have had.
The film soundtrack consists of many of Czech indie songs from Khoiba, Photolab, Tata Bojs and Ecstasy of St. Theresa and we can proudly declare, that our song Sunshine appears in one of the most extreme scenes of the film as well as it was chosen for the trailer.
We liked the film a lot and we recommend it.

After three years, one album and more than a hundred concerts, Šmity is leaving the band. He helped the band in the moment we needed it the most and he elevated some of our skills to new heights. We would like to thank him for all this and we wish him well. Let all his dreams and plans come through smoothly and fast!
The very last concert together with Šmity will be next week in U-Klub Olomouc, 9/12/2009. Come to salute him. As a guests we proudly present Genius Mess Poets and DJ squad The Fakes (DJ Sin vs. Destroyer set). The evening will be powered by our deer friend Jagermeister.
We would like to announce that the new member of The Prostitutes who is going to take bass duties on a regular basis is Adam Piaf Vopička, lead singer and guitarist of Prague’s indie-outfit Fake Tapes. You’ve had already a chance to see him playing with us on many concerts during this year when Šmity was touring with Black Lips. Adam, welcome on board and we wish you to maintain your young blood in a companion of mature prostitutes.

As all punks and alternative rockers born later than Roger Waters, we hated The Wall too. So we have been pleased being invited by German Embassy and Goethe Institute in Prague to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin’s wall. It took place in Meet Factory, the club and art house echoing Berlin’s cultural genius loci of Tacheles and similar places, right at the D-Day, November 9. The ceiling was decorated with dozens of Douglas DC-3 aircrafts, the cargo bombarders, and the projections were illuminating the history of Berlin and Germany in last century. Huge inflatable bears made a concrete hall look more like a strange, post-apocalyptic playground. And the glittering stage was ready for our concert: disco ball and silver seventies background made a perfect essence of what DDR and BRD had common in the past in terms of a taste. The audience was big and so the party. We enjoyed both: the concert and the self-destroying after-p provided by DJ Call Me Radeq. And foremost. we are enjoying for more than 20 years the fall of the wall which took down the iron curtain for good. Hopefully.

First of all, there are some pictures from our recent gig in Velbloud club in České Budějovice. Together with The Pooh and The Fakes we had a great time. Great party in the town recently hitted by pig’s flu!
The not so good news are that after Opava, where we had to leave the venue due to outstandingly insufficient technical conditions, after Kadaň’s gig, where the owner of the club didn’t know about the concert, Jihlava is another one cancelled by a promoter less than a week in advance. All these problematic gigs were not booked by our management but were set up by Tomáš Staněk, booking agent of 100°C, and we don’t have any trustworthy informations about who’s fail it is. We feel extremely angry and scammed and we apologize to our fans for an inconvenience. We won’t let our booking management out of our hands in the future.
On Saturday, 7.11., we play very special concert at Chapeau Rouge in Prague during an event called Shevening, a charity gig for the benefit of women in Congo.

After landing in Bucharest we were picked up at the airport and taken to the Czech Centre next to the Embassy. The drive in from the airport is impressive as we proceeded down the large boulevards into the centre of the Paris of the East. Bucharest’s architecture is Eclectic (lots of different styles). But as we talked to the driver he pointed out that the drive into the city was the nicest part of the city. The rest of it was very eastern block . We didn’t have the time to go and see it though although we had been met at the airport by three shabby looking young gentlemen who were insistent on helping us with our luggage and were obviously from the poorer side of town (Bengali in platforms).
We arrived at the club at around six and were impressed. The Silver Church is a spectacular club well designed , good sound system and a pleasure to be in. It has been open for just over a year and the owners have made it into the second best club in Bucharest. The manager Jiji, a well known actor and organiser of various underground events was very welcoming.
The sound engineer in the club was well prepared. All the items in the back line that we had asked for were there. Not like the night before when we had had to cancel a gig in the Jam club in Opava because they didn’t have any equipment at all in the club even if they knew we were going to play there for over a month and in the end handed over the cash without us even playing and then had to explain to a number of angry fans why we were leaving.
Most of the guys that were playing that evening were in the club. We met Stefan from Les Elephants Bizzares (original name Les Femmes Bizarres, when the boys thought the name would attract girls but in one drunken night changed to Les Elephants Bizarre because if you take the insides out of your trouser pockets open your zip and pull out…. well elephant bizarre emerges, which in a drunken state is obviously the best way of attracting les femmes bizzares
We also sat around chatting to the drummer Bogdan a cool relaxed guy from The MOOod and Gopo/Oliver the vocalist a very intense young man worried about the future, worried about the music scene, having a bad time with his girlfriend … the perfect combination for a vocalist. I don’t like comparisons so check them out for yourself. They are great live and have an intensity and stage presence which a lot of young bands are looking for ……. but are not desperate enough to find.
The MOOod came on stage and rocked the shop. After the MOOod followed AB4 who are also probably sort of a Romanian Lavagance (oops I made a comparison) They also went down really well when they had finished is was about one thirty in the morning and we were really tired so our show was probably not the best. Anyway I google-translated the MOOod’s blog entry from Romanian to English so you don’t get a false impression:
“Funk Rock Hotel 6, which dom’ne concert that bands, many girls! I would like to thank the ladies attending the concert that I remembered why I love Adidas from Korn. Saturday in Silver Church (bathrooms there and draw a Gopo! It’s a must!) I had the best concert so far, what was rock’n'roll! Sound insightful, Mircea I showed it can play solo from Mighty Man with eyes closed, destroyed Gopo microphone stand, I’ve knocked down and Horia cinelele has shown us once again why his nickname should be Voyoshel. For me, the series has been an attraction The Prostitutes. Up to listen, I was not synth’s fan but these guys have convinced me! Dark parts, a random voice Joe Strummer / Johnny Cash, an unbelievably good drummer (forget that it can be rock and metronome), very good guitarist, synth dubious hard bass line and a simple and very groovy. I can say that I became a prostitute after I saw, and, I invite you to prostitutes and you. That said, see you at the next concert! Spread The MOOod!”

Next thursday. The Prostitutes, Goro,
The Fakes, Jagermeister.
The Prostitutes are hunting for hometown zombies right now and Prague is a very dangerous place in this respect.
Thats why we call for duty extra forces, super heavy duty artillery band Goro and a special chemical DJ unit The Fakes. The living ones shall be awaken, the damned ones should be damned for good.
As a special weapon, we will introduce our very own Jagermeister machine gun.
Satisfaction guaranted.
